CMMC compliance

CMMC by defense industrial base region

The compliance problem is not the same everywhere. What a missile supplier faces near Redstone and what a ship repairer faces in San Diego are different problems with the same regulation behind them.

The defense industrial base clusters by mission rather than by population — so the contractors around each hub tend to hold similar data, answer to similar primes, and run into the same obstacle as each other. These pages are about that obstacle.

We work remotely, from South Florida, nationwide. We do not have offices in these regions and are not claiming to. Almost all of this work is delivered remotely whoever does it, and we would rather be plain about that here than have it come up on the call.

  • Huntsville, Alabama

Export control is the deciding question here, not CUI

Missile, aviation and space programmes, and the densest concentration of export-controlled technical data in the country. The region where GCC High is most often genuinely required rather than defensively bought.

  • San Diego, California

The shop floor is where this gets expensive

Naval shipbuilding, repair and maritime systems — a supplier base heavy on fabricators and machine shops, where the hardest CMMC problem is usually equipment that cannot meet the requirements.

  • Northern Virginia

Scoping people is harder than scoping machines

Services, IT and professional-services contractors clustered around the Pentagon. Usually already cloud-first, which makes scoping a question about people and documents rather than machinery.

  • Dayton, Ohio

Research collaboration makes the boundary porous

Air Force research and sustainment, with a supplier base spanning aerospace engineering and university research — where the boundary question is complicated by collaboration.

  • Colorado Springs, Colorado

First-time compliance, and the cost of learning it late

Space and missile-warning systems, with a supplier base skewing toward newer and smaller technology businesses meeting CMMC for the first time.

Not in one of these?

The regions above are where the defense industrial base is most concentrated, not where we work. Cloud Kings serves contractors nationwide, and the engagement is the same wherever you are — scope first, assess against all 110 requirements, close the gaps, keep it true.

Start with CMMC Level 2 readiness, or check whether Level 1 is all your contracts require — a good number of contractors are quoted for more than they owe.
